Overview
To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the International Society for Music Education (ISME), we, with the generous support of JW Pepper, called for compositions from students around the world. Compositions were to respond to the idea/topic “Music and ME”. Compositions of any length (minimum 2 minutes long) and in any genre were accepted.
Prize
Winners in each category will have the opportunity to have their composition performed at the 36th ISME World Conference that will take place in Helsinki in July/August 2024. A prize (to the value of US$500) is offered in each category. Selected winners will be featured at the opening ceremony of the ISME conference in Helsinki.

- 10 years and under
- 11 - 18 years
- 19 - 30 years
- President's Choice
Assessment Criteria
Compositions were assessed on the following criteria:
- Technical control (effective control of musical elements and form and use of instruments/voices)
- Musical effectiveness (eg. expressiveness, flow, communication of ideas, clarity)
- Creativity (individuality, surprise, boldness, innovation or usefulness)
- Presentation (effective and appealing written communication or audio finesse)
