The Commission on Policy: Culture, Education and Media connects educators, scholars, researchers and other policy stakeholders to provide an international forum for debate, information sharing, communication, critical analysis and expansion of knowledge regarding cultural, education, and media policy development and implementation. The Commission fosters the opportunity to have greater interaction, insight and action regarding policy across global music education communities.
The Policy Commission’s vision is to strengthen the dynamic relationship between policy and music education.
The mission of the ISME Policy Commission is to:
Provide an interactive international forum for debate, exchange of information, communication, critical analysis, and expansion of knowledge regarding cultural, education, and media policy development and implementation
Develop the agency needed for responding to current cultural, education and media policies and political agendas through research, policy briefs, and other collaborations around the world
Recruit and support commission participants, including new and experienced scholars from diverse geographic locations
The Policy Commission carries out its mission by holding a seminar immediately before each biennial world conference and disseminating its proceedings. Between seminars, the Commission also supports events that facilitate wide international representation, organizing free graduate seminars and meetings in various locations that provide an opportunity for commission participants to share their ideas and work related to this mission.
