Saya Thuntawech is a native of Thailand and currently serves as a full-time lecturer and Chair of the Division of Music Education, Department of Art, Music, and Dance Education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in music education.
She earned her Bachelor of Education in Music Education with First Class Honors and a Gold Medal, as well as a Master of Education in Music Education from Chulalongkorn University. She later completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Music (Music Education) at the College of Music, Mahidol University.
Saya’s academic interests and research focus on educational policy and institutional ideologies in music education, pedagogy in music education with a particular emphasis on piano teaching, and culturally contextualized approaches to music learning and teaching. Her scholarly work has been published in leading national and international journals.
In addition to her academic role, Saya serves as the Head of the Chulalongkorn University Music Education Excellence Center (CUMEX), supported by the Second Century Fund (C2F) of Chulalongkorn University.
