Associate Professor at the School of Music of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and President of the Brazilian Association for Music Education (ABEM). He holds a Postdoctoral degree in Music (concentration in Music Education) from the Graduate Program in Music at UFRN (PPGMus/UFRN); a Ph.D. in Music (Music Education) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (PPGMus/UFRGS); and a Master’s degree in Music (Music Education) from the Federal University of Paraíba (PPGM/UFPB). He also holds a specialization in Music Education from Faculdades Santo Agostinho de Montes Claros-MG (FASA), a Licentiate degree in Music (Guitar) from Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros (Unimontes), and a technical diploma in Guitar from the Conservatório Estadual de Música Lorenzo Fernández (CELF). His teaching and research focus on school-based music education, music teacher training, music and educational technologies, music teaching and research methodologies, and music education from an intersectional perspective. He has taught at CELF, was a tutor at UAB/UnB, and currently teaches in the Music Licentiate Distance Program at UERN. He also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at EMUFRN, where he serves as Vice-Coordinator of both the PPGMus/UFRN and the on-campus Music Licentiate Program. He coordinates UFRN’s Sector for Academic Policies and Projects (SPPA) and the Research Group on Music at the School of Music (GRUMUS/UFRN). He is Section Editor of Diálogos Sonoros – Journal of the Graduate Program in Music at UFRN. He previously served on ABEM’s board as Secretary (2017–2019, 2019–2021) and Vice-President (2022–2024). He is a member of the Basic Education Working Group of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC) and coordinates ABEM’s Working Group on Music Teaching in Basic Education Schools. He has chaired scientific committees for ABEM (2016, 2019, 2021), ISME (2017), and ANPPOM (2022, 2023), and was a member of ABRAPEM’s Artistic Committee (2018).
