Dr Leon de Bruin is current President of the Australian Society for Music Education ( ASME), and committee member for the ISME Forum for Instrumental and Vocal Music. He is an educator, performer and researcher in music education, creativity, cognition, collaborative learning, creative pedagogies, and improvisation. He is coordinator of the Master of Music performance teaching degree program (MMPT) at the Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne. His work spans pre-service teacher training in music education, curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, and research methodologies. He has published over 50 articles, chapters and edited books, co-editing the Brill Publication: Creativities in Arts Education, Research and Practice: International Perspectives for the Future of Learning and Teaching, and co-author of Creativity in Education in the Oxford Research Encyclopaedia of Education. He represents ASME in the Australian Arts Alliance in Education ( AAAE) and the National Advocates for Arts Education in Australia. He is represented on the editorial board of The International Journal of Music Education, and Thinking Skills and Creativity.
