Joon Hwang WONG is a part-time lecturer at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, the University of the Arts Singapore, and the Singapore University of Social Sciences. A music historian and educator, her work is situated at the nexus of music history and music education. Her teaching and research interests encompass the integration of music pedagogy with learning sciences and music psychology, with a particular emphasis on blended learning environments and the role of informal learning within formal classroom settings.

Joon received her PhD with a dissertation titled A Critical Edition of Percy Grainger’s “Jungle Book” Cycle, which reflects her longstanding engagement with critical editing and performance studies. Alongside her academic pursuits, she is an active performer, singing with the Singapore Choral Artists, which provides her with a practice-based perspective that enriches her teaching and research.

Her professional contributions extend beyond higher education into curriculum development and consultancy. She has worked with schools in Singapore and with overseas Universities on projects related to musical production, the infusion of thinking skills in music education and assessments. In addition, she is the author and consultant for the Ministry of Education’s primary school music textbooks, published by Pearson Education, which continue to shape music learning at the foundational level.

Joon's work reflects a commitment to bridging scholarship, pedagogy, and performance, with the aim of advancing both the academic study and practical teaching of music.
