Dr Glenn E. Nierman (BM, Washburn, 1972; MM, Cincinnati, 1977; DME, Cincinnati, 1979) is currently Steinhart Professor and Associate Director of the School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he teaches graduate classes in research, as well as a non-major popular music guitar class. He has authored numerous journal articles; made presentations at the National Association for Music Education (NAfME, formerly MENC) conferences in the United States; and given addresses at the World Congresses of ISME in every biennium since 1986 (except 1988, 1992 & 2002). He is a past chair of the ISME Music in Schools and Teacher Education Commission, and he is currently completing his second term on the ISME Board of Directors. Glenn is currently President-Elect of his country’s National Association for Music Education. Honors include recognition for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching (1987) and receipt of the Steinhart Endowed Professorship (1998-present).
