Gareth Dylan Smith is Assistant Professor of Music (Music Education) at Boston University. He is a founding editor of the Journal of Popular Music Education and author or editor of eight scholarly books. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and encyclopedia entries in music and music education. He is also one of the founding editors of Limericks in Music Education (@LIMEtimetweets). Gareth is a busy drummer, playing in rock bands with Stephen Wheel, the Eruptörs, Black Belt Jesus, and with spoken word artist Oh Standfast. He is currently working on producing an album of eclectic duets. Gareth's research interests include popular music education, punk pedagogies, sociology of music education, drum kit performance, embodied experience, music and leisure, and eudaimonia.
