Dr. Siljamäki believes in the potential of the arts as transformational momentum for socially sustainable futures. Siljamäki works actively as a researcher and pedagogue at the interface of arts, well-being and learning.
Dr. Siljamäki is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. She is the lead-PI in a research and development project funded by the Kone foundation. The three year project (2023-2026) explores how improvisation can function as a transformative power towards safety and equity in school communities.
In addition to her academic career Siljamäki has an established career as a vocalist, improviser, choral conductor, and pedagogue.
Siljamäki holds a PhD in music education (2021) from the University of the Arts Helsinki, Finland, and a masters degree (MMus, 2003) from the Sibelius Academy. She also holds a masters degree of Cultural and Media Entrepreneurship (2021) from the Turku University of Applied Sciences.
