The 2025 Asia-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Research (APSMER) was held at Edith Cowan University (ECU) from 9-11 July. We warmly welcomed over 300 international delegates to Perth, Western Australia, for scholarly and cultural exchange.
Conference Theme
The theme, “Being and becoming musical in a posthuman era,” guided our curiosities as we considered the role of music and music education in the human experience now and into the future. Highlights included keynote presentations by Clint Bracknell, Margaret Barrett, Julie Ballantyne, Alexis Kallio and Ricky Kej, and performances by Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse, Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) staff and students, and the Mirabilis Collective. Thank you to the many teams of people involved in helping bring this event to life.
