As a Society ISME has a Constitution and Bylaws which govern the functioning of the external and internal activities of the Society. The Constitution can only be amended and changed through a decision taken by the General Assembly. Bylaws, too, are the responsibility of the General Assembly. The Constitution, Bylaws and Policy Review Working Committee is currently looking at the Constitution and Bylaws and, following in depth consultation with members, will bring proposals to the General Assemblies in 2016 and 2018.
