Angela is the Secretary General of ISME
Angela trained as a primary music teacher. During 28 years as a Civil Servant she gained many years' experience supporting committees and developing and implementing policy. Her final position in the Civil Service was Senior Policy Manager for arts education, with a specific focus on music education. Angela was the senior programme manager for England's flagship music projects - First Access to vocal and instrumental tuition; Sing Up; and In Harmony (England's Sistema inspired project). She provided policy advice on music education to four successive Secretaries of State for Education; worked alongside Darren Henley as he carried out his review of music education in England; and wrote the Government's initial response to the review. Angela was also a senior member of the team that wrote England's National Plan for Music Education. Angela is also the General Manager of the Music Education Council - the UK umbrella organisation for music education.
