Dr Maria Papazachariou – Christoforou is a music educator and currently Assistant Professor of  Music Education & Pedagogy at the Department of Education Sciences at the European University of Cyprus. She directs and teaches courses in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programs in Music Education at European University Cyprus, and she is the Coordinator of the Ph.D. program in Music. Her research interests include sociological dimensions of music pedagogy, music education in early childhood, and lifelong music engagement and well-being. She has worked in Public Primary Education in Cyprus as a music educator for 25 years (1993-2018) and served as Director of Music Education at the Pedagogical Institute Cyprus for Music Education in Early Childhood and Primary Education.
Dr Papazachariou-Christoforou is actively involved in music education research projects in collaboration with music educators and researchers worldwide, and she has presented research papers at National and International Conferences. She is the founder and director of the LifeLong Music Engagement Research Unit at the Centre of Excellence in Research SOSCIEATH at European University Cyprus. The Research Unit has a unique mission to engage in innovative research in music-making from early childhood, illustrating the power of music engagement of all ages to enhance well-being. She is currently Board member of EuNetMERYC.
