Silvia Malbrán is Chair of the Research Commission (ISME),
Professor of Ear Training at the University of La Plata and Associate Professor
of Aural Psychology at the University of Buenos Aires. Silvia is Director of
Master in Psychology of Music at University of La Plata. She is a member
of the Academy of Sciences of New York, member of the International
editorial board of the journal Problems in Music Pedagogy (Latvia) and is the National
president of the Fundación para la Educación Musical (Argentina). Her research into
children’s rhythmic synchrony has been supported by nationally competitive
grants from the Argentinean Program for Teachers- Researchers. In this program
she is a Representative of the first category. Silvia has published extensively
in many journals and monographs of the discipline.

Christopher M. Johnson, Professor of Music
Education and Music Therapy, and the Associate Dean for the School of Fine Arts
at the University of Kansas. Since his
arrival at The University of Kansas, Johnson has taught courses in Instrumental
Conducting, Teaching Instrumental Music, Managing Behaviors in the Music
Environment, Psychology and Acoustics of Music, and Research Methods in Music
Education and Music Therapy. Johnson is
currently the editor of the International Journal of Music Education: Research,
the research publication of the International Society for Music Education. He has also served on the editorial board of
the Journal of Research in Music Education.
He currently serves as the Chair-Elect MENC Executive Committee of the
Society for Research in Music Education.

Margaret Barrett is Professor of Music and Arts Education
and Deputy Head of School in the Faculty of Education at the University of
Tasmania where she teaches research methodology and music education.
Margaret is the editor of Research Studies in Music Education,a member of
the editorial boards of a number of key journals internationally, and is a past
national president of the Australian Society for Music Education . Her research
into children’s musical thinking as composers and notators, and songmakers has
been supported by nationally competitive grants from the Australian Research
Council. Margaret has published extensively on this body of research in the
major journals and monographs of the discipline.

Graça Mota (pianist, Master in Music
Education, Boston University, USA, PhD in Psychology of Music, University of
Keel, UK) is a Senior Lecture at the Music Department of the Escola Superior de
Educação in the Polytechnic Institute in Porto. Beyond her teaching duties, she
is currently Director of the CIPEM (Research
Center in Psychology of Music and
Music Education), Coordinator of the Music Education Teacher Training Course,
and Coordinator of the Post-Graduate Studies in Music Therapy, the latter in
collaboration with the University of Cadiz in Spain. She has published in Portugal, US, UK,
Latvia and Brazil. Her
main areas of research interest are: musical identities, musical narratives,
innovation in curriculum development, evaluation in music education, teacher
training, and musical careers. She plays regularly in Piano Duet and chamber
music ensembles.

Hellen Atieno Odwar is a senior lecturer in
the Department of Creative and performing arts at Maseno University, Kenya
where she teaches research methodology, music and music education courses. Hellen is the honorary president and is one
of the editors of African Musicological Journal on-line,is the chair and
founder of Kenya
association fro musical arts education. Helen's research in music education is
