The ISME Young Professional Focus Group (YPFG) is organizing the following special sessions to be submitted for consideration for presentation at the 2008 ISME Conference in Bologna.

1. RESEARCH WORKSHOPS
Students and recent graduates will have an opportunity to present their research projects and receive feedback from internationally renowned music educators. Plans are underway to include sessions in languages other than English, with English translation.

The proposed format of these research workshops is as follows:
There will be three presentations in each session. Each presenter will have 20 minutes to present and 10 minutes to discuss with research experts. The session will conclude with a general discussion on specific research issues that arise from the presentations.

2. POSTER SESSION
Students and recent graduates can present their research projects that are either completed or in-progress at a special YPFG poster session. Mentors will be assigned to provide in-depth feedback to each presenter at this session.

In 2006, the group has conducteda survey that collected opinions and suggestions from the ISMEmembers.

Atotal of 84 responses in six different languages has been received fromISME members of 15different countries. The results have provided directions to the new plans that the group is now working on during the 2006-2008biennium.

Atthe Malaysian Conference in 2006, the group organised a number of sessionsthat were especially catered to the young professionals. Amongthem, the "Research Workshop for International Young Professionals"was the most successful. It was a collaboration between ISMEYoung Professionals Focus Group and the ISME Research Commission.
