The Conference will cover the following topics:

The process of adaptation of musical education systems in Russia, CIS countries and Europe as dictated by Bologna Process;

The implementation of the credit system in different countries (discussion of practical issues relating to the experience);

Discussion of the national curriculum concerning musical education – the National Educational Standard – third revision;

Collecting information and exchanging opinions about the activities of the national music councils of countries in Europe, Asia, and America, whose major task concerns the following:

children’s musical training;

musical education of audience of classical music;
-
widening the appeal of classical music;
- support of musical culture;
- musical training of children in state schools.

Finnish Society for Music Education - FiSME (ISME INA) in cooperation with Jyvaskyla University, department of music, and the Finnish Music Campus, organizes a music education conference (October 5 - 7, 2007, University of Jyvaskyla, Finland). The aim of the conference is to give new ideas for music educators who represent different fields of music pedagogy (early childhood/kindergarten, primary school, high school, music school, conservatoire, university).
Through keynote speakers, papers, and workshops we aim to give for delegates updated information of the present state of music education in Finland and abroad. Special attention will be paid for those research approaches that can be applied into every day life of music teachers and pedagogs. The topics of three special symposia will be 1) Music in Special Education, 2) Music Technology, and 3) Multicultural Music Education.
Keynote speakers will be prof. Jane Davidson (University of Sheffield, UK), prof. David Hargreaves (Roehampton University, UK), and ISME President Elected, prof. Håkan Lundström (Malmö Academy of Music, Sweden).
