SEMINAR AIM
The focus of the 18th International Music in Schools and Teacher Education Commission Seminar is to promote research and practice in school music education and music teacher education by exchanging the most updated research in the field.
The focus of the MISTEC Seminar will be to promote research and practice in school music education and music teacher education. Participants will present updated research in the field, demonstrations of good practices in music education as well as links between research and practice. With these paper sessions and workshops we seek to promote and support the effective teaching and learning of music in school settings through increased understanding of curriculum development, instructional practices, intercultural education, and innovations in music teacher education.
Presentations focusing on the general theme of the conference—Harmony and the World Future—or about Music in Schools and Teacher Education at large are most welcome to be submitted for consideration of the Commission.

Transfer from the airport to the hotel will be provided for free. In case you have not provided this information in your registration form, please contact Ms. Yuan Yuan (wenda724@163.com) and give your flight number and arrival time. If you are arriving to Shenyang by train, please follow the same procedure. If you are arriving by car, please go to the Yuning hotel.

The registration desk, at the Conservatory, will be opened on Monday, 26th, from 2 pm to 7 pm
Seminar fee
The MISTEC Seminar has a RMB 900 fee--around US$150. This is to be paid in cash upon arrival at the registration desk.
Hotel accommodation and meals booked through the registration form cover from Monday evening--dinner--to Saturday morning--breakfast.
Costs for Extra events and social activities
The welcoming and farewell dinner as well as the concerts are for free. The half-day excursion costs RMB 50.
Payment and booking
Payment is to be made in cash, in Chinese Renminbi (often abbreviated as RMB), at the arrival registration desk on Monday, 26 July 2010.

Practical information
Traffic in Shenyang is really dangerous. Please be careful as pedestrian and wait until cars are completely stopped to cross the street. Apart from this, the city is really safe. Feel free to move around anywhere at any time.
The locals are really friendly, but most of them have no knowledge of foreign languages. You might print off and take with you the address of the hotel, just in case you get lost.
Air in the city is polluted. You might take precautions if you have lung problems.
If you change money in China, please keep the receipt. The police might request it.
