Harmonizing the Diversity that is Community Music Activity

The theme for the 2010 Community Music Activity Commission Seminar in Hangzhou has been inspired by the ISME conference theme "Harmony and the World Future." This year we will be exploring the following themes:

TRAVEL

VISAS

Apply early for entry visas. Contact your travel agent to find out what you require. Invited presenters who have registered and international observers who have registered and paid will receive a letter of invitation which can be submitted with your visa application to the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country.

CURRENCY

Rates listed below are posted in Chinese Yuan Renminbi (RMB). Use a currency converter such as http://www.xe.com/ucc/ to estimate costs in your country’s currency.

What to do on arrival

AIRPORT

Hangzhou is 1600 km from the World Conference in Beijing. A plane flight takes about 2 hours. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport has a website, although the English version is not yet available: http://www.hzairport.com/. Once presenters and observers confirm their flights, please inform Spring Dai (daijing@crtvu.edu.cn) of the Open University of China (OUC) seminar Organizing Committee as soon as possible and OUC will arrange an airport pick-up service. ACCOMODATIONS

INVITED PRESENTERS will be provided with rooms in the Jinma Palace Hotel for free, thanks to the generosity of our host OUC. Please fill out the online Booking Form (available upon login onto the ISME Members website - see BOOKINGS below) and confirm accommodations by 15th May 2010.

OBSERVERS can choose to stay either at the Jinma Palace Hotel or at the Longhai Hotel. Please fill out the online Booking Form (see BOOKINGS below) and confirm accommodations by 15th May 2010. The hotel reservation will be held until you arrive and then you can make arrangements for payment with the hotel.

BOOKINGS

This seminar is strongly recommended to all music educators who work in informal settings—youth groups and centers, prisons or reformatories, hospitals, churches, social services - or those educators who work in formal settings and wish to have stronger connections to wider concepts of music and music education. Observers are encouraged to book as soon as possible because seating is limited.

INVITED PRESENTERS: Thanks to the generosity of our host, OUC, all invited presenter expenses for accommodations, meals, coffee/tea breaks and the seminal reader will be provided. Use the online Booking Form (available upon login onto the ISME Members website) to confirm your participation by 15th May 2010. Presenters who book after this date will have an additional cost of ¥100, payable on-the-site. Presenters only need to pay ¥100 for travel fees for the outing to Xihu Lake on the afternoon of 29th July 2010, and this will be paid on-the-site.

INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS: International (non Chinese) observers must have ISME Individual Membership. The observer Booking Fee of ¥600 includes the seminar reader, full attendance to all sessions, and coffee/tea breaks. Use the online Booking Form to confirm participation by 15th May 2010. International Observers who book after this date there will have an additional cost of ¥100. International observers participating in the outing to Xihu Lake on the afternoon of 29th July 2010 need to pay ¥100 for travel fees and this will be paid on-the-site. The Booking Fee for International Observers should be paid through bank transfer to the appointed bank of the host university (OUC):

-If there is any bank commission charged during the transfer proceeding, the payer will be responsible for it.
