San Luca:
A wonderful experience is to visit San Luca to enjoy a view of Bologna from above. The easiest way to get there is to take a taxi (share with friends). Ascending the 3.5 km hill there are 666 elegant porticos giving protection from the sun and leading to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca at a height of 291 metres above Bologna. You can see many people walking or running up or down the porticos at all times of day! The construction of the Portico of San Luca began in 1657 and was financed entirely by donations.
Special Tip #2: A visit to Bologna would not be complete without indulging in the famous Italian ice-creams! The gelati shop we frequented was open until midnight every day!
